“Very beneficial for my anxiety and stress levels”

I attended about ten sessions of acupuncture from December 2011 to present and I found it to be very beneficial for my anxiety and stress levels. I work in a stressful environment and found myself having panic attacks during the day and night. My heart raced most days and I often woke during the night with hot sweats and my heart thumping. I had bad dreams most other nights. I suffer with an under active thyroid and when I started these sessions my thyroid was low and had been for awhile, even with medical intervention it was still low and very very slowly rising. I also suffered from constant worrying and anxiety even at the weekends. For fertility reasons I was recommended to attend a couple of sessions of acupuncture.

My first few sessions I lay on the bed and panicked about the needles and what it was doing to my body and if it was the right thing to do etc( I even worried if the roof fell down while i was lying there would the needles go through by body-this is how stressed I was). I found that I wasn’t enjoying it or able to relax for the first two sessions. Suzanne was my acupuncturist and I cannot say enough about her.She was reassuring and very early on realised I was a panicker and tried to put my mind at ease. Very often she sat in the room until I was calm. She spoke calmly and listened to my concerns. She is very easy to get on with and open up to which are lovely qualities to have especially dealing with someone who is stressed.

After the third session I found myself relaxing more and by the fourth session I actually found myself looking forward to attending the session because of how I felt after it. I was sleeping better at night by this stage. My husband noticed a change in my attitude and stress levels.I wasn’t getting as annoyed about little things and worried a lot less. Getting the needles in was never that comfortable to me throughout the sessions however the benefits outnumbered the slight discomfort at the start of each session.
