ESSENTIAL OIL BLENDS FOR RUNNERS.


Good Luck to any of you who may be heading to Drogheda this weekend to run the in the annual Boyne 10km!

Here are some oil blends you can use before and after your run!

For a pre-marathon rub that helps to loosen-up and warm the muscles, add;
8 drops of Rosemary which relieves pain, stimulates the mind and body, and has a warming effect on the muscles ,
4 drops lavender; anti-inflammatory effects, relieves pain, relaxes spasms, and brings mental calm without sedation.
4 drops Eucalyptus which aids breathing, decongests, invigorates and relieves pain.
Add into 25mls of carrier oil (Grapeseed and/or Sweet Almond oil).
Rub the oil blend into the legs, hips and lower back or even into the entire body. This will help you move into your run feeling warmed up, calm and energized!
Post-marathon:
8 drops Lavender,
4 drops Juniper Berry that detoxifies and helps eliminate lactic acid from muscles which is important for a speedy recovery,
4 drops Sweet Marjoram which helps relieve cramping in over-exerted muscles. It also helps to calm you down and will aid a restful nights sleep. In short this blend aids the elimination of metabolic waste products and enhances your circulation,which means that important electrolytes and other nutrients get to the muscles faster. Therefore,you will notice your ability to bounce back without struggling for days!

 

Add into that mix a little acupuncture before and after and you will definitely stay limber and recover quicker.
